Hi there! As you surely noticed, I finally found the time to work on my page this weekend. The content is the same, but I played around with the design a bit. The new design looks a lot closer to what I want it to look like, but I’m not quite content with it, yet. I’m also aware of some issues with the slideshow and the gallery on mobile devices. This should get fixed with the next update to the final design. So please don’t get too used to this design, I will decided on the final design soon hopefully ;-). But in the meanwhile, enjoy the new, more photographic approach.
The last few weeks, I was pretty lucky to always have great models for my pictures at hand. So I didn’t do a self portrait for some time now. For this weeks picture, I wanted to play around a little with my afro-wig. Basically, I wanted to test how different light looks like on such fuzzy hair. I always used one softbox to lighten up my front side and then changed both strobes for rim light (one bare and one with softbox) to different positions. Unfortunately, my basement studio is just too small, to put the strobes further away from me than 1 or maybe 1½ meter. But that’s not that bad. There is a lot you can do on this small area. After some different setups I ended up with the lighting you can see in this picture. I had one other very interesting light setup with an extra hairlight, which gives the hair an even nicer glow, but unfortunately, the space was just too small to get the right angle for this picture with this light setup. But nonetheless I like how this turned out in the end. Plus, the light setup that I now used for this final picture, looks a lot more natural than the one with the additional hair light.
As mentioned above, for lighting I used 3 strobes. 2 as rim light (at 10:00 – bare and 02:00 – softbox). The third strobe was the main light through a softbox at 07:00 and above me.
So long – Florian
