I’m exhausted. I just finished my pic after more than 12 hours editing while outside the weather is just perfect for lying in the sun. Well, my vampire like paleness has to stay a little longer. It has been some while since I did the last picture this massive. But as I had vacation on Thursday and Friday, I decided to push my Photoshop skills a little. This is the first time ever, I used stock photos for my pictures. Though I don’t like the idea of using someone elses pictures, I had this rough concept for the image in mind, which I just couldn’t realize with the stocks I made myself. Especially photographing a skyline is a bit complicated here in Germany. I totally have to take a bunch of background stocks when I’m in the US in August. So at least I want to honor the guys who took the original pictures here. Thank you very much Livion Stock for your picture of the Skyline and thinkin-fishstock for the picture of the rooftop. So worked for almost 6 hours to prepare the background with these stocks and some awesome clouds from my own database. But, I got a feeling that this could be done in under 1 hour if you know what you have to do ;-). Then it took me 1 ½ hours to prepare and take the picture of me going banana ;-) and then again like 5 hours to blend it in my background and to build the lighting mood. I’m pretty happy how it turned out in the end, even if there are some things in the picture with which I’m not quite satisfied. But for today, I’m done!
I used 3 strobes for lighting me. One bare strobe (I wish I had put on the umbrella.. but well..) in front of me. The second strobe though the softbox at 08:00 to lighten up my frontside and my face a litte more and the second one above and behind me (at 11:00) for rim light. I wish I had used a softer light source as main light for me. But well.. Can’t change it anymore now.
So long – Florian
