my Christmas vacation is already over now and the daily routing has me back. That unfortunately means, to get up much too early every day, and have far too little time for photography. But at least, I can’t complain about lacking ideas for my week 2 photo. I’m afraid that’ll come soon enough though. Right now, my head is almost buzzing with new ideas and I can’t wait to implement them.
A few weeks ago, I had to go to the dentist. Due to our admittedly pretty nice health care in Germany, we have to go for a teeth checkup at least once a year, in order to keep the government grant for this. So of course like every year, I waited till the very last second before I made an appointment for the week before Christmas. In my defense, I have to admit that I’m scared to death of this creepy guy in white who just won’t stop talking nonsense, while diving headfirst in my mouth with dangerous looking tools.
So while sitting in the waiting room, trembling in fear of what was about to come, I wondered how it would look like, if I would just do the checkup at home. And voila, the idea for this picture was born. Ok, admittedly my first idea was a lot gorier, but I wanted this picture to be more funny than creepy. After all, I don’t want to ruin the beloved afternoons at your dentist for you ;-).
I decieded that I will add the lighting diagram for every picture here so you can easily see how I did it. So here my first lighting diagram:
I used a 2 strobe setup for this time. One stiplight cam left behind the model, and one strobe on the right 45° through an umbrella. With the 2 strobes, the 2 models and me with the camera, it was much too crouded in my kitchen. There wasn’t much space left to move, or bring the strobes in different positions. To be honest, I’m not really satisfied how it turned out. Also this was my first time I tried to add such bloodsplatters. It was harder than I thought it would be. It didn’t turn out as realistic as I wish it was. But it’s sunday night now and I’m running out of time.
Between working off all the stuff that was piling on my desk at work, Taekwondo Do training to loose all the pounds I gained over Christmas and planning and taking this picture I indeed found some free minutes in between for working on this homepage. I implemented the social media buttons. And I worked on the gallery. I hope I get it working till next week.
So I hope you enjoyed this week’s picture. Read you next week.
