I’m sitting at the airport in Budapest right now and am waiting for my flight back home to Munich. The last week, I’ve been home for just 7 hours which I spent entirely with sleeping. On Thursday last week I left for Porec in Croatia for our yearly Taekwon Do trainings camp. That’s four days of just training, meditating, eating and sleeping. Unfortunately sleeping always comes a little too short, as we usually get up at around 5:30 to go meditating on the beach. After that it’s grabbing a bite to eat and head over to the gym for training right away. Then it the first daily training is on until lunchtime. After lunch, we have a couple of hours to relax and get some (desperately needed) rest until we head over to the gym again for the second training session. The camp always takes place at the beautiful old little town Porec. It has a charming old city center and I wish I had some more time to go photographing there. But the weather was pretty bad anyway. We just had like 3 hours of sunshine during all 4 days. Thank god, I went out on the first (partially sunny) afternoon between the trainings, to take my picture.
This week’s picture is kind of special, because I didn’t shoot it myself. I went out for the shooting with my buddy Michael who is a professional wedding and product photographer. As we decided the shooting very short term because of a rain break, I didn’t have the chance to catch one of our awesome black belts for modeling. So I had to do it myself. And who better to shoot the picture than Michael. Even though I didn’t shoot it myself, it was pretty interesting and instructive to see a professional at work. If you need a great wedding photographer or if you want to see more of his awesome work, head over to his websites (http://www.dein-set.com) and (http://www.eco-studios.de). We were so lucky to go out shooting the moment the sun came out, because not long after we finished, a big thunderstorm broke out and it just kept raining for 2 days straight after that. Even though Michael took the picture, I did the editing on the picture myself (that’s also the reason why I even dare to put this picture up here on my blog ;-)).
The sun was shining from behind me and we used just one bare strobe on the ground directly in front of me to lift me of from the background. Not an optimal position and not an optimal setup, but our bags were so packed with training stuff, we just couldn’t bring any soft boxes or tripods with us. Also we just didn’t have the time to go looking for the perfect spot to take this picture.
