at first, I have to say that I’m a little depressed, because I’m absolutely not satisfied with the outcome of this weeks picture. The color, the contrast and the details did not turn out as I wanted. But as I it is too late now to make another picture, or to start editing all over again, I have to leave it as it is. Even though the picture didn’t turn out as I imagined, the shooting was pretty funny. You can’t see it in the picture, but I’m literally sitting on an anthill. My buddy Christoph and I went out to look for a place to take this picture and we found this wonderful little clearing in the middle of the forest. There were a lot of birchs standing around and the grass just looked so incredibly fluffy. It was so peaceful there, I almost expected some Hobbits to jump right out of the brush to look what we are doing there. In the middle of the clearing there was this totally overgrown stump, which I decided to be the perfect place for my picture. So I started to gather all the brown and dry grass that was still on the clearing and decorated the stump with these birch branches you can see in the picture. Everything looked perfect until I sat down. Suddenly thousands of ants were crawling out of the stump and all over me. It was not so easy to look relaxed with so many ants trying to get into my shorts ;-). I hope I didn’t damage the stump too much, though.
I brought a lot of gear with me, to be equipped for all situations. I had 3 strobes + gels with me, a tripod and an umbrella. But as I liked the light in the clearing a lot, I decided to not use any of this. So again, I didn’t use any strobe this week. (Maybe that’s the reason why it didn’t turn out as I wanted..).
