I told you last week that I wanted to do some outdoor spring themed shooting, which then didn’t work out unfortunately, because the weather went bad. This week it did! I immediately went out, to relax a little in the sun and enjoy the weather. It’s great to just hang out in a hammock somewhere in the woods and read or relax for a while. So I grabbed Marie and we went out looking for a spot with nice background for the picture. After searching for a while, we found a nice, white blooming bush with two trees in front, standing on a big meadow. Right as we put up the hammock to start shooting, a dog came running towards us, barking angrily. The owner of the dog was running a few meters behind, shouting even more angry for the dog to come back. Thank god, the dog had the size of a guinea pig, which made the whole encounter far less intimidating. Did I already mention that I’m not such a big fan of dogs? Anyhow, after the dog and its owner, still running screaming some meters behind it, disappeared in the woods again, we could finish the setup and start shooting. After we went home after the shooting, we met the same dog again. Its owner was still running screaming a few meters behind it.
For post production I decided to try something different this time. I wanted to make a nice soft picture and play around a little with coloring. So most of the post consists of like four different curve adjustment layers to adjust the color in the highlights and the shadows and to adjust the brightness in different parts of the picture. These things are just amazing. I never imagined how powerful these curves really are.
I’m sorry, I dont have a lighting diagram for you this week. The setup was pretty easy though. I just used one light source for this picture. One that is available to everybody for FREE! Of course I’m talking about the sun. For the shooting I brought 3 strobes, a tripod and an umbrella. But in the end, I decided to use nothing of this fancy stuff and stick to available light this time.
